Elijah Chester (Carl)

Meet Carl, Maxine’s husband. A strong simple man, Carl is more suited to being out of doors and working the factory than cooped up as he’s been from an accident. He loves Maxine deeply. Carl will be played by Elijah Chester.

Elijah Chester, a Grammy Award winner and international performer, is no stranger to the stage. A native of North Carolina, he grew up with a love for all forms of theatrical expression. His studies and training have ranged from the North Carolina School of the Arts, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in music performance, and in 1989, moving to NYC to study at the Juilliard School of Music, in its’ Young Artist Opera program. Quickly rocketing onto the opera scene, he made his professional debut as “the youngest tenor ever to sing for the Metropolitan Opera”. During his years at the Met, he was apart of two recordings with operas most respected artists, including performing alongside artists like Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, and Jesse Norman, along many more.

Over the years, he has performed leading roles around the world from the San Francisco Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Amsterdam Opera, Paris Opera, Italy’s Spoleto Festival, and the Rome Opera. He also made a smashing success in L.A. as the star in “Candide”, at the Ahmanson Theatre.

His musical recording and video credits include “The Ghosts of Versaillies”, “Pagliacci” with Pavarotti, “The Mighty Casey”, and “Susanna”, which earned him a Grammy for Principle Soloist on the Best Opera Recording of 1994. Elijah can also be heard in the Christian music industry as a solo artist on the 1998 Dove Award for “Our Saviour…Emmauel”.

Recently Elijah has focused his energies on his first love of movies, and has begun working mainly in Wilmington, NC “Hollywood East” at the moment, staring in several projects there.

Aside from music and acting, and whenever the time permits, Elijah likes to write, watch a good movie, or ride bikes with the family.
